Insectary Technician, CDC, Fort Collins, CO
TheInsectary Technician is responsible for the care of the animals housedin the Clean and Experimental Insectary areas. These duties are as describedfor the AnimalCaretaker. Additional duties will include: careof mosquito coloniesas assigned, to include assistingin blood feeds; preparation of liverpowder solution and sugar water for mosquitocolonies: maintenance of insectary equipment.The Insectary Technician will also assistas needed with flea and tick feeds.
Under the direction of the Project Manager, shall have demonstrated knowledge and skill in dealing with mosquitoes. Theyshall be able to recognizethe appearance of abnormal animalsand provide animal care and husbandry services, to include: feeding/watering animals;handling restraint of animals, cage and bedding changeouts; cleaning/sanitizing animal rooms, hallways, ancillary equipment; monitoringenvironmental parameters as required; assessing the presence of vermin and effectiveness of control efforts;performing animal health.Checks; assisting in the local delivery/transport of animals; assisting in the inspectionad storage of feed and bedding materials; performing minor equipment and facility maintenance.
Must be certified Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) by AALAS and have at least Year experience in a laboratory animal facility.
