The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance has a full-time vacancy for a Bridge Construction Foreman . Summary: Responsible for coordination and supervision of all bridge maintenance operations in a designated area. Performs technical and paraprofessional engineering duties associated with bridge maintenance and construction.
Your experience counts: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in general bridge construction, bridge maintenance, or related field, with at least two years in a position that involved supervising groups in bridge construction and maintenance.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers License A or B (CDL-A or CDL-B) with tank endorsement and air brakes.
Other Requirements:
Candidates with an equivalent combination of 3+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in 'trainee status' for this position.
Knowledge of modern methods used in bridge construction and bridge maintenance. Skill in use of bridge construction tools and equipment. Ability to place, layout and supervise workers engaged in bridge work. Ability to work outdoors for long periods under varying climatic conditions. Ability to climb and work from scaffolds high above ground. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with the motoring public as well as landowners along the highway right-of-way and employees. Demonstrated agility, mechanical ability, resourcefulness, initiative and sound judgment. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
